British union calls for boycott of Israeli goods
British union calls for boycott of Israeli goods - International Herald Tribune: "On the union's conference blog, however, a critic of the ballot, identified as Olivia Lang, said 'it is not going to make life easier for journalists anywhere in the world' to be seen to be taking sides. 'We need to strive to maintain our objectivity when reporting,' she wrote." Gee what a novel thought. Journalists reporting the news and not taking sides and skewing facts. It's an epidemic in journalism to get the big story and make the big splash irregardless of whether or not what you are doing is ethical or not. How's this: report what is happening without coloring it with your own politics and let people decide what they think? If your personal politics don't jibe with something, sure protest it on your own time, but to do it as an organized body of journalists is simply wrong.
