Pixel Notes - Case Closed!

So here we are. Finally and definitively. I have received a scan of the 2nd prize certificate for this particular piece. You don't need to have mastery of the German language to see that the only name listed on the certificate is Sirkka Hammer. No "in collaboration with" no "[insert name here] in collaboration with" just Sirkka. I may not know everything, but I somehow doubt an art contest would make a habit of not crediting the artists where credit is due. Once again, that's normally all you get in art: credit for your work. So here you go, 1 pic of the prize. Choke on it. Case closed! EDIT: Duncan Wilson has left comments below stating his view of events. Click on the "comments" link for more on that.

Pixel Notes? Whodunnit?

[ rant ] OK so this particular post is a work in progress and the "full" version will be posted here once I have all the pix and stuff gathered. Many of you who are into art and design and stuff of that nature may have come across a project called "Pixel Notes" on various websites and blogs and such. It is a fantastic piece from a design contest in 2004 called "New Walls, Please!" where it won 2nd prize, where multishaded post it notes are glued to the wall and as you peel them off to use them, your wall literally looks like it's becoming pixellated. If you google it, you will see that it has spread around the world and is fairly well known in the art circles (you can also see pictures of the project there as well).

Well here is the problem as it stands today. The immensely talented Sirkka Hammer came up with the concept and design of the project. If you look at posts on webistes from near the original contest date, you will see she is always solely credited with winning 2nd prize as well as "coming up" with the idea.
Unfortunately for Sirkka, her boyfriend at the time helped her glue up the notes to the wall. I say unfortunately because if you look at more recent web posts on her project you'll notice "Duncan Wilson" being credited either solely or as "Duncan Wilson in collaboration with Sirkka Hammer" on these pages. This is a travesty. Crediting him with creating the project is like giving the guy who laid bricks at the Sistine Chapel, credit for the painting Michaelangelo put on the ceiling. It would be dishonest to say the least. Sadly, it would appear that Mr. Wilson (and I use the term "Mr." begrudgingly) has decided to try to launch one last parting shot at his ex and attempt to take credit for her work. It's a really sad and pathetic display and one that should be shunned and derided as it is the lowest of the low any artist could do. Taking credit for someone else's artwork is lower than murder as an artist. So if you happen upon a web page that says anyone but Sirkka Hammer has created this project, please be so kind to gently correct the author and tell him/her that it is, in fact, a Sirkka Hammer project. Sirkka is a near & dear friend of mine and shouldn't have to put up with crap like this from a loathesome, petulant fool to get the credit she rightly deserves for her outstanding work. Thanks!
